Like the original factory instillation, These plated were located on the floor of the rear trunk and were welded in to give more support to the sway bar mounts underneath.

My 76 does not have the reinforcement in the trunk. So was curious why the early models required the plate . Is this a stock item ? I would like to see a picture of it welded in.

The first picture in the listing is the 75-76
the green car is a 75 with the mounted sway bar bracket
The late cars had more reinforcement with the federal bumpers
All 73-74 914's with the sway bar option had the reinforcement plates welded in

Quick questions for you as my parts will be showing up tomorrow...
Being a newbie, I wasn't aware of a year to year difference in rear sway bars.
I removed this bar from a 1972 that I have and am installing it into a 1973 that never had one (from what I am seeing).
I think I ordered the later version bracket from you...
Will I need to cut the tongue off of the new bracket?
It looks to me that the earlier brackets are just flat?
Also, I removed this bar 5 years ago and didn't take a mental note of the orientation.
I am assuming the "sweep" designed into to the bar is meant to curve up and over the muffler area?
(been searching the forum without success) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)
